L-Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that it cannot be manufactured by the body and must be obtained through the diet or by supplementation. Lysine is necessary for the production of all protein in the body including hormones, enzymes, and antibodies, as well as carnitine and collagen, which is the structural protein forming all connective tissue such as skin, tendon, and bone. L-Lysine also plays a major role in calcium absorption. Some evidence suggests that L-Lysine supplementation may help to support a healthy immune system as well as proper cardiovascular function.

When I’m stressed, I’m prone to cold sores, so I’m never without L-Lysine and this essential oil blend I buy from a local pharmacy (they mix it there). It’s basically all the smelliest essential oils you can think of in one little bottle, but it works. It dries very quickly: eucalyptus, lavender, thyme, tea tree oil and mint. Also dries out my lips pretty badly, but I’m going to take this on the cold sores any day. Don’t go mixing your own essential oils as I think it could be dangerous or toxic, but I feel good about getting it from the pharmacy! 🙂

It is a very excellent product against cold sores and strengthening your immune system. Since my husband has been using it, he has never had cold sores. This summer he didn’t swallow it for 1 month and the cold sores came back so the product proves its strength. The capsules are easy to swallow and tasteless. I love this supplement, I take one a day, then if I get a cold sore tingle, I take 4, three times a day and most of the time it stops the cold sore from forming . If I’m too late when I notice it massively reduces the size of the blister and speeds up the whole healing process.
