Omegas, EFAs, CLA and oils (especially fish oils and omega oils) are part of a group of fatty acids found naturally in meat and some other foods that have been shown to have many health benefits. EFA stands for essential fatty acids and CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid. The most common omega acids are omega 3 and omega 6, which are usually found in large amounts in fish. The various health benefits of omega fruits, EFA, CLA and oils range from improved skin and hair color to improved brain function and have even been linked to cancer control. There are antioxidant properties in many supplements that contain these essential fatty acids, and omega fatty acids in particular have been linked to healthy heart and brain function. The properties of omega fatty acids are so powerful that they are sometimes called polyunsaturated fats. It can be difficult to get enough of these beneficial oils and EFAs in a regular diet, so supplements containing these beneficial ingredients are often used and recommended for a variety of health improvements.
