Amino acids are the subunits that make up proteins. They are necessary for the function of all cells, for tissue repair, and for the production of enzymes and neurotransmitters. The body uses 20 amino acids to construct proteins, but nine essential amino acids cannot be made by the human body and must be supplied by the diet in order to achieve proper protein synthesis and maintain overall health. People with limited diets or poor digestion may not get enough essential amino acids from their diet. In contrast to proteins or peptide-bound amino acids, NOW Amino-9 Essentials has all 9 essential amino acids in their superior free-form state and in the proportions recommended by the National Academy of Sciences to optimize protein synthesis and tissue repair for adults age 19 and over.

Not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients. Produced in a GMP facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens.
Recommended use:
Mix 2 1/4 level teaspoons with 8 fl. oz. of juice or your favorite beverage once daily. Taking with juice or other beverage is recommended due to bitter taste of free-form amino acids.

Research has unequivocally shown that supplementation with all nine EAAs outperforms supplementation with BCAAs alone in improving muscle protein synthesis. EAAs are also used in the synthesis of other proteins and natural compounds, including neurotransmitters and hormones, so muscles aren’t everything, we need EAAs like we need vitamins. Just as we take multivitamins to supplement a deficient diet, we should also consider adding EAAs, especially when we are unable to eat adequate amounts of complete protein.

NOW Foods Sports Amino-9 Essentials Powder is the most potent amino acid combination I have ever taken. The taste is bad, but you get used to it. I read about the importance of EAA’a but every brand had artificial colors and flavors. It is worth it to me to figure out what Drink to put it in for flavor. Doesn’t dissolve.

bought this after hearing a podcast about the importance of 9 essential amino acids that you can only get from supplements. The taste is bitter but what I expected. The package has a wide opening, so it’s easy to use a spoon to get the right amount of powder.

Easy to take essential amino acids. The only problem is that I need a flavored drink to take it. I hardly drink juice but only water or tea or coffee so only take it when I have a flavored drink. Also, I take it when I don’t feel like drinking a protein shake.

love the composition of the 9 essential amino acids and that these are the ONLY ingredients. It’s PURE AA and nothing else. The size is good but the price is a bit high. I bought these because I really needed histidine for myelin repair, and the amount of histidine in this product was very high compared to all the other products I looked at. I couldn’t find a histidine supplement alone, so I opted for this one. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the bitter taste. I could only take half the recommended amount of juice, shake it VERY well and take it twice a day instead of once.

love that this product has no additives – got exactly what I asked for. However, I didn’t believe the reviews about the taste and the difficulty in mixing it with liquids. I THOUGHT I could add it to a favorite tasty hot or cold drink and it would taste great. I have to say, forcing this is a struggle. It’s SO BITTER! And it floats upwards in little dry clumps. The only way it’s even bearable is to put it in a bottle with some stevia and a cube of frozen lemon juice and shake it in the daylight. I doubt I’ll be a repeat customer unless I can find other flavors that work! I’m all for the capsule form if they start producing that!

love NOW Foods products and even though I only took them for a short time, I can already see an improvement. It is excellent for preventing the elderly from losing muscle mass. Make sure the manufacture tells you to take something that will reduce the sour taste, not too bad though.

Didn’t take long enough to feel the benefits, but oddly, I already feel great! It tastes a bit bitter but if you put it in something cold you can hardly smell it. The packaging is good and I like to take it as a supplement to my diet.
