Seeking Health – Optimal Prenatal

May help support a healthy immune system
Includes active B6 and ginger to support digestive comfort
Optimal Prenatal Capsules by Seeking Health provide a comprehensive prenatal formula with a unique blend of amino acids, chelated minerals, and vitamins designed to meet the high nutritional needs of women who are pregnant or preparing for pregnancy. While this nutrient blend is specifically formulated to support healthy fetal development and prenatal nutrition, Optimal Prenatal Capsules may also be taken whenever the supplemental need for a potent and pure multivitamin exists.*
This complex formula is made with careful consideration for not only the increased demand for certain nutrients, but also for digestive sensitivity that can occur during pregnancy. This product contains L-5-MTHF, the most biologically available form of folate, which is essential to support healthy cognitive development. Optimal Prenatal also provides folinic acid, a non-methylated form of folate that can be easily converted to coenzyme forms within the body. This optimal blend of folates may work in conjunction with amino acids, chelated minerals, and other B vitamins to support normal cell growth and cardiovascular, neurologic and immune health.*
Optimal Prenatal Capsules also contain two active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12: methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, which may help support healthy fetal development, energy metabolism and methylation. The well-balanced vitamin B complex is complete with active forms of riboflavin and B6, plus additional biotin to support healthy growth and development. Biotin may also help support healthy skin, hair and nails. Both vitamin B6 and ginger extract are special features of this formula, supporting digestive comfort.*
Vitamin A is included in two forms: beta-carotene and retinyl palmitate, to help support those who have trouble converting “provitamin A” compounds (such as beta-carotene) into the active retinyl/retinol forms. Vitamin C and coenzyme Q10 provide antioxidant support, supporting a healthy immune system and cellular integrity. Trace minerals are included in their chelated forms, as amino acid-chelated minerals are typically well-absorbed and may be more easily tolerated than alternative supplemental forms. Betaine HCl is also added to support healthy digestion and optimize absorption of nutrients.*
Optimal Prenatal does NOT include iron as some women do not process iron well or do not need iron supplementation. If iron supplementation is needed, consider Optimal Iron Plus Cofactors; for a gentle, well-absorbed chelated iron.*

High quality and powerful prenatal thanks to the methylated and activated forms of the B vitamins, very important for those who have MTHFR mutations, so that they can see their deficiencies improved. The concentration of some ingredients is not high enough for pregnancy needs, so you may need to take more capsules or add other supplements, but this should be done in consultation with a doctor.

This supplement was recommended to me by an excellent prenatal nutritionist that I follow on instagram. It’s hard to take the dose, but I’m getting used to it…and I’m very happy that it’s by far a better supplement than the ones I’ve used before.

It’s an expensive product, however, as a researcher, I spent a lot of time when I got pregnant trying to find the best possible prenatal vitamins on the market and I believe that’s it. For my toddler, giving him all the micronutrients he needs is worth all the money. I have ordered from Ecosupplements several times and although located in the UK the delivery was quick and the costs always better than getting it from a local distributor. You have to take 8 of these capsules a day and they are quite big, however, if you have trouble you can open them and use the powder for example in a smoothie or yoghurt. I prefer to swallow them and I always have them for breakfast. My pregnancy has gone smoothly so far, the little one is developing well and my blood results are excellent. It can’t replace a well-balanced diet, but I feel like I’m supplementing as much as I can. Has no iron so I take the iron separately. I am also taking more vit D3 and Omega DHA (of course after discussion with my midwife and doctor what you need to do before taking anything.) I will continue while breastfeeding if I can . I highly recommend this product as I believe it contains top quality ingredients.

He’s one of the only pre-natals I trust. I have confidence in the quality and effectiveness of this product. No synthetics or fillers. Just everything you need and your body can actually use in a prenatal.

BENEFITS • Exceeds most other prenatal vitamins on the market in terms of nutrients included, bioavailable/bioactive forms and dosage based on newer research • Contains an evidence-based dose of 4,000 IU of vitamin D (potentially eliminating the need for additional vitamin D supplement; see Ch 6 and 9 of Real Food for Pregnancy) • Extensive heavy metal contamination and potency testing on every batch (rare in the industry) • Methyl-free version available for those few who experience adverse symptoms (such as anxiety) from too many methylated B vitamins (‘Optimal Prenatal Methyl Free) CONS • 8 capsules per day • If you are iron deficient, this formula is iron free

I used it for half of the first trimester and now half of the second (week 20 tomorrow). I know it’s not the only reason, but in terms of health and symptoms, I feel great! almost no nausea in the first trimester, fatigue but not excessively, no headaches etc. vitamin. The price would be another downside.

This multivitamin supplement was recommended to me by my obstetrician. She explained to me that it is essential to take folate instead of folic acid and that this product has the right ingredient. Although a little expensive (the daily dose is 8 tablets!), I recommend this product. I feel a lot more energy compared to early in the pregnancy when I was not taking the supplement. As a side effect, I have the most wonderful nails and hair. It doesn’t contain iron so you have to boost it independently, but I think it’s better that way because you can adjust the iron levels independently.

This is a quality prenatal vitamin with clean ingredients. I switched to this brand after reading a bunch of prenatal brands that have been tested and rated top 3 clean vitamins with no contaminants. The potency is nice and I feel good knowing my baby is getting enough essential vitamins for her development. There’s no taste and the pills don’t make me nauseous like Thorne did.

love this prenatal! I was looking for the most absorbable forms of the nutrients needed for pregnancy and this one ticked all the boxes! I had a bit of a detox for the first 2 weeks – felt like I had the flu and was constantly getting rid of mucus, but after that I felt pretty good. I have been taking this and saccharomyces boulardii since the start of the 1st trimester and have had no nausea, headaches or constipation. It’s also great that it doesn’t include iron as not all pregnant women need it (in fact mine was high in the test). The only downside is the suggested amount of capsules, most of the time I take 4-6, but my diet is also very nutrient dense, including animal organs, fresh dairy and lots of fruits and vegetables . I considered getting the essential version instead of the optimal version, but it doesn’t include the amazing support plants, so I’m sticking with that.

My doctor told me that these vitamins outperform other prenatal vitamins on the market. Although it’s 8 pills/day, I remember that’s because these vitamins contain the most bioavailable version of this nutrient! Personally, I like that they don’t contain iron either: I take a separate iron supplement, so I like that they don’t interfere with the prescribed dosage.
