NOW Foods – Slippery Elm
– Helps Coat and Soothe GI Tract.
Slippery Elm, also known as Red Elm, Moose Elm or Indian Elm, is a small North American tree that has been traditionally used by herbalists for over 100 years. It was reportedly used by native North Americans and early settlers as a survival food. Its bark is known for its mucilage constituents, which can help to coat and soothe the tissues of the GI tract.

Beautiful slippery slippery elm! I use marshmallow more often because I fear it will help strip the elms of their bark; but I like slippery elm in my drinks as a treat (so soothing to the GI tract, and I like the texture and taste better than marshmallow)

It comes in a big jar and lasts forever. I make syrup by adding water and simmer for a few minutes on the stove. This will keep in the fridge for a week. I syringe feed my deceased CKD cat to help with his stomach acid and vomiting bile. It was also meant to coat and protect the lining of his stomach from excess acid. I had applied the syrup to my canker sores and they seemed to heal faster. In any case, it instantly relieves pain.

put this in baby food when my kids show signs of stomach issues, along with activated charcoal. I think for viral issues it helped us more than activated charcoal (more for bacterial issues). All in all, I’m really happy with this and think it’s an essential part of our medicine cabinet.

I prefer this one to the Hatton Hill one. The taste is slightly different and I only take a heaped teaspoon in the morning. This is for my leaky gut/poop so I’ve been drinking this for 4 months now. Add boiling water to mix it up then add lukewarm or cold water if you need to drink it right away. About 3/4 cup full of water.

I’m trying to quit taking over-the-counter heartburn remedies like omeprazole, and NOW Foods Slippery Elm Powder has been very helpful! It takes a bit of prep (you have to simmer it in water on the stove), but it’s worth it for a natural heartburn remedy! It also tastes wonderful – like maple, but not too sweet.

suffered from bile reflux and was prescribed omeprazole. Before my endoscopy, I had to stop taking it, then severe pain appeared. I was frustrated, so I saw a lot of good reviews on slippery elm. At first I was skeptical about it, but now I’m totally glad I tried it. I don’t take any medication and only need it once a day. During my first 2 weeks I had to take it morning and night. Now morning is enough and I have no problem with my reflux. I am really happy and I recommend this product to my friends who need it.

I have tried several brands, both bulk powders and capsules and this is the freshest, best-tasting of them all and yields excellent results. I also purchase the capsules for on the go situations where I can’t use a blender.

Having tried many other Slippery Elm Powders I decided to try this one. It’s equally as good as many others which are much more expensive. I find it very soothing for stomach and digestion.

have digestive issues, heartburn and stomach pain. I highly recommend it. It helps me every time, I mix it with lukewarm water and drink it on an empty stomach. This is one of the most effective supplements I have ever had for my stomach and digestion issues. The powder tastes good and dissolves quickly. I also like the size and the price!

I’ve used and loved Slippery Elm Bark for years for digestive/intestinal issues that I have from time to time. I finished up an older bottle that I had and ordered a new bottle before I ran out. Apparently the formula to produce it has changed since I last bought it because it wasn’t the same at all. My previous bottles always had a wonderful gel like consistency of the bark after it mixed with hot water and sat for a few minutes. This new bottle doesn’t. It mostly stays really watery regardless of how long it sits. And it tastes different also. I’m not saying it’s a bad product and it has helped me but it’s not the same as it used to be

I discovered slippery elm powder years ago when I started a wellness journey of healing and natural remedies. I found out about slippery elm NOW after first trying it at a cooperative bulk health store when I lived in Maryland. I’ve been buying it since! It is very hard to find and I only trust this brand.

Making it as a tea, I find that it tends to get thicker at the bottom, but that doesn’t bother me. I love the powder since there’s nothing else added to it! I take for issues with my colon, and so far so good. Taste is similar to maple syrup.

I found this product very good for me and for my pooch. Whenever we have diarrhea, slippery elm powder is the first thing we think of.

I prepared it as a tea, but it turned out more like thin gravy. I was hoping it would be soothing to my stomach, but after a few swallows I poured the rest down the sink. Very nasty.
