Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is naturally produced in the human body in very small amounts, but is also available in some foods. ALA is unique in that it can function in both water and fat environments. ALA promotes the production of glutathione and can also recycle vitamins C and E, thereby enhancing their antioxidant activities. In addition, ALA may help to maintain healthy neural tissues, promote proper glucose metabolism and support healthy cardiovascular function.

The ingredients are excellent and this composition of ALA is combined with other antioxidants such as grape seed extract and black pepper. The package has a good amount of capsules and the capsule size is a little big but ok to take it and has no taste.

This one in particular, from Now food – a high quality brand I trust – has no nasty ingredients or fillers and I bought it on sale, here on Ecosupplements, for a better price than at my local pharmacist. I take one capsule a day, at noon: it is easy to swallow and causes me no side effects. It comes in a pack of 60 capsules which should last around two months.

ALA is a must for other diabetics. After a few weeks of use, the benefits are obvious: the tingling has almost disappeared and the skin is also more beautiful. ALA is also supposed to be good for the heart, which is an issue for people with high blood sugar (diabetes and heart disease go hand in hand), so I like taking it even more. As always, good quality in the iconic orange bottle with the Now branded blue cap.

I no longer take my Gabapentin. My PA doctor told me to try this and it worked for me. I was on 1800mg of medication and now I only take one pill a day. I have to take the 600mg for it to work for me. So happy because the medicine had such side effects.
