Recommended use:

Guess I’ll have to crush them. Would not buy again. Going to switch back to Carlsons softgels. Those are big too but they go down easy. Normally I love NOW brand.

Obviously, malate is known to help energy levels. Instead of taking it in the morning like I have been, I took it at bedtime and my Fitbit gave me four more points on my sleep score than I’ve gotten lately. It’s quite fun to explore all the benefits of different types of magnesium. But this is going to remain one of my mainstays (since we need around 100mg 4x a day).

This magnesium is of good quality. I was specifically looking for magnesium malate and found this. Good value for money. You get 180 tablets at a time. I take it 3 times a day with no side effects. I just wish they had a bigger bottle because this one only lasts me two months. I don’t find it tasteful, and for me it’s easy to swallow, but some people might find the pills to be large. I will be ordering another bottle soon. In general, I think I feel better when I take magnesium than when I don’t, as long as I have a good magnesium supplement like this.

My longtime staple, magnesium malate has the benefit of smoothing the bowel and relaxing the nerves without the laxative effect that some other magnesium formulations have. Malic acid is acidic though, so it should be taken with a large meal, as it can cause some acidity in people prone to an empty stomach. I take p-5-p and vitamin C EOD as part of my pyroluria regimen.
