NOW Betaine HCl is formulated to support proper digestive conditions in the stomach. Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) is normally produced in the stomach, where it assists protein digestion by activating pepsin, helps to maintain a healthy balance of gut flora, and stimulates the release of intestinal enzymes. Pepsin is a protease produced in the stomach that partially breaks down proteins in foods. HCl production tends to decline with age, so supplementing with HCl and pepsin may help to maintain normal digestive function. This product uses a vegetarian acid-stable protease with activity equivalent to that of animal-derived pepsin.

It’s a lifesaver for me. Helped me in so many ways, I didn’t even think it was possible. I started with 2 capsules per meal (I eat 2 times a day on Keto), then gradually over 2 weeks I added 2 more and continued to take 4 capsules with each meal for 6 months (j finally started to feel full and satisfied with food, got rid of habitual constipation and huge bloating), after 6 months I started taking 3 capsules with each meal. After 2 more months – 2 capsules, when I tried taking just 1 with each meal and it didn’t work – horrible constipation and bloating came back. So I am taking 2 capsules with each meal now and feeling wonderful, I plan to continue like this for another 6 months. I hope one day I can digest everything on my own without it.

Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without this product. I have taken many different brands of HCl but this is the best quality and best value. The ingredients are clean and the pill size is easy to swallow. It has helped my digestion tremendously. I was dealing with a stomach ulcer and liver congestion as well as leaky gut to the point where I was bedridden for a few months. have IBS, acid reflux and overall poor digestion. Taking this just before starting a meal seems to give me a sign of relief from feeling heartburn. The supplement that could save lives yes! This supplement has literally saved my digestion a lot and when I mean a lot, no bloating or anything. Dosages vary from person to person due to low stomach acid levels. Personally, I had to take 7 capsules before each meal. Start with 1 and gradually increase until you feel a slight burning sensation in your stomach and reduce 1 tablet from that and that is your dosage. Finally, some people may need to take much higher doses due to low stomach acid and all is well. Low stomach acid is caused by anxiety and stress

Before buying this I would recommend doing a pH test for your stomach acid. You can even make one at home (not the most reliable, but it helps) and see if your acid reflux isn’t caused by too little acid, not too much. Doctors just give us PPI’s and claim it will fix the problem – but that’s usually not the case as very few people have too much acid. Most of us have too little acid and we certainly need stomach acid to digest food, to absorb nutrients and vitamins. It is a good quality product and the dosage is quite simple – you take 1-2 tablets after your meals until you start to feel better. Be aware that at first it may make you worse. But stick to it, because your acid needs fixing. Also try to find the root cause of your low acid.
