What is Doctor’s Best Collagen Types 1&3?
Doctor’s Best Collagen Types 1 and 3 contains hydrolyzed collagen protein (BSE-Free), which contributes to the growth and maintenance of healthy tissues. Collagen is the structural protein essential for the strength and flexibility of bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, hair, skin, nails, and other tissues throughout the body.
Vitamin C is added to the formula as an important nutrient required for collagen synthesis by the body.
How does it work?
Type I collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and the major protein found in skin providing it’s tensile strength and resiliency. Type 3 collagen is found at high levels in cardiovascular tissue and also in newly developing skin. Types 1&3 collagen are often found together in the same tissues because each form complements the structural integrity of the other. Collagen synthesis is a continuous process throughout life. Collagen is essential for growth and repair. Rejuvenation and renewal of every tissue throughout the body requires the production of newly synthesized collagen. However, this process can become less efficient as we age leading to decreased renewal of old tissue. This is manifested internally as a lessened efficiency of organ and tissue function. As the skin ages, the levels of Types 1&3 collagen, as well as elastin, decrease in the dermis resulting in the loss of elasticity.

Exactly what it is. Works great.
But one thing I don’t like, is the shape & size of the pill. It’s huge, a little too large to swallow comfortably, and I’m someone that has no issue with large pills like omega-3s etc. The shape also isn’t ideal, it has slightly sharp and squarish corners which makes it uncomfortable going down.

Good quality collagen with good composition ingredient. I take this for my aging skin and my knee joint. I love that Doctor’s Best Collagen comes in a pack of 540 tablets. love it! The quality is so good that my nails haven’t broken or brittle since and have gotten stronger since. It really worked. The smell is almost non-existent thank goodness, and the pill size is quite large, like 000, but if you don’t bother to chew the tablet, you can break it down by chewing it instead of swallowing it. Taste? Won’t be bad still without strange smell. The ingredients are also pure and contain nothing but vitamin C for better absorption. I salute this purity.

the quality seems ok. the effect, I’m not too sure as I took it as a general supplement on my travels. but I think it helps to improve any protein deficiency in hostel type fast diets. I don’t want to think about it too much and I know it’s harmless enough to consume. the tablet itself is like a compressed dry powder with less taste…so if you have trouble swallowing, let it dissolve in your mouth first. the package seems ok, I have traveled with it in different temperatures. I’m not sure about the breakdown of the ingredients, but it’s like raw protein anyway. Thanks very much !!
