Doctor’s Best – Benfotiamine 150 + Alpha-Lipoic Acid 300
What is Doctor’s Best Benfotiamine + Alpha-Lipoic Acid?
Benfotiamine (S-benzoylthiamine-O-monophosphate) is a synthetic derivative of thiamin (vitamin B1). Benfotiamine is fat-soluble, more bioavailable, and physiologically active than thiamin. Benfotiamine helps maintain healthy cells in the presence of blood glucose, supports against oxidative stress, and supports healthy aging. Alpha-Lipoic Acid supports the body’s defense against free radicals and recycles antioxidant nutrients such as vitamin C and vitamin E. Alpha-lipoic acid is a sulfur-containing fatty acid, it is soluble in both water and fat and is sometimes referred to as the “universal antioxidant”.
How it works?
Benfotiamine raises the blood level of thiamin pyrophosphate, the biologically active coenzyme of thiamin, and stimulates transketolase, a cellular enzyme essential for maintenance of normal glucose metabolic pathways. Benfotiamine was shown to cause, on average, a 5-fold greater increase in blood thiamin levels than thiamin mononitrate, with a concomitant greater thiamin concentration in red blood cells. Benfotiamine readily passes through intestinal cells and is converted into thiamin. Alpha-lipoic acid is a key factor in the cellular process that metabolizes glucose for energy production. Aging is accompanied by a decreased ability of the liver to recycle ascorbic acid following oxidative stress. R-lipoic acid, after two weeks of supplementation to aged rats, reversed the age-related impairment of ascorbic acid recycling and concentration in liver cells. Aging is associated with oxidative stress in the brain. The brain’s high rate of metabolism and its long-lived neurons make it particularly vulnerable to oxidative stress. Since alpha-lipoic acid interrupts cellular oxidative processes in both its oxidized and reduced forms, it plays a modulatory role in the brain and nervous system.

like it because it reduces the amount of insulin released when carbs are eaten, increases fat burning, and reduces hunger. if you practice, it will also be very useful for you. it is also a very good antioxidant. take it twice a day with meals containing carbohydrates. if you train, take it with creatine as well to increase your creatine uptake 😉 The cap size is very good so you won’t have any problems swallowing it. and you also find weird aftertaste or bad smell.

used to take “Source Naturals” benfotiamine 150mg before, but decided to try this brand (with alpha lipoic acid) this time. It looks pretty good. The advantage of benfotiamine with ALA appears to be a good composition of ingredients for additional health benefits. I take 1 (sometimes 2) a day if I decide to go out for a drink. vitamin B1 with Siliphos is good to take before and after having a drink. To be honest, I take one a day simply because research indicates that this synthetic form of B1 has much better bioavailability compared to normal vitamin B1, and benfotiamine is good for your health, especially for people at risk of pre-diabetes and those who already have diabetes. It’s also good for “nerve pain and tingling in the hands and feet” if you have nerve pain due to diabetes according to research.

I love this product. It has helped me immensely with my neuropathic pain. Hopefully with continued use it will help both my blood sugar and blood pressure. I haven’t used it for a very long time. It arrived well packaged and easy to swallow. I am 69 years old.

Really helped with the nighttime tingling. I have diabetes as well as another nerve problem and my feet often tingle at night when I’ve eaten something sweet. After taking it for half a bottle, I no longer receive them. Ideal for diabetics as benfotiamine and alpha lipoic acid help the nerves. 🙂

feel tired all my life. This tiredness depresses me a little. One day, all of a sudden, I tried to find the solution to my fatigue and the result told me that taking 300Alpha Lipoic Acid could improve my fatigue. and take benfotiamine together because alpha lipoic acid uses a lot of benfotiamine. So I searched for the product and found this. This product meets my needs and I feel much better than before. I take it every day now. I really recommend this product.

highly recommend it to almost anyone. Here’s the catch; I took it faithfully for almost two years. I like the combination of Benfotiamine with ALA. My problem arose when I started getting breakouts that nothing could alleviate. There was nothing else I could eliminate from my diet and yet the rashes were still strong. After several months of research, I came across a warning that although it is very rare, a person can sometimes be sensitive to it and develop rashes. I wasn’t sure but I stopped doing it and in 3 days no new rashes and in 2 weeks all the rashes were gone. I miss the product and wish I could take it back for the circulation benefits I have experienced. I highly recommend it to everyone except the hypersensitive.

purchased this product for my brother who has type 2 diabetes for the reasons mentioned below. Common antioxidants like vitamin C are water soluble and vitamin E is fat soluble. But alpha-lipoic acid is the only antioxidant that is both lipophilic and hydrophilic, meaning it attacks both fat- and water-soluble free radical species. Alpha lipoic acid is the father of all antioxidants – it recirculates other antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and glutathione. it also helps to control blood sugar level with chromium supplements. A water-soluble vitamin B1, also known as thiamin, is essential for glucose metabolism to produce energy. Thiamine is not well absorbed by the human body and therefore leads to reduced bioavailability, which is a major limiting factor for its clinical use. Benfotiamine – a synthetic lipid-soluble version of thiamine has been developed which releases thiamine in the body. it could be a useful supplement to counter diabetic vascular complications, diabetic neuropathy, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, cardiomyopathy.

I get this for my husband as a daily supplement which helps with the nerves in his hand. I use it occasionally for sciatica. I think that helps us gain the upper hand. The quality is good and what I found great was that Benfotiamine (water soluble) contains ALA which is so good for us. I think this formulation is beneficial and easy to take, once a day. I recommend it for healthy nerves.

Benfotiamine is a manufactured form of B1 with the added benefit of being fat soluble, which means we can retain more of it and it’s supposed to be able to enter the cell for better utilization. I started taking doses of B1 after watching Dr. Eric Berg’s video and thought I had many signs of B1 deficiency. Many of my symptoms got better afterwards, like forgetting what I was going to do after walking into another room.

The combination of benfotiamine and alpha-lipoic-acid gives me the amount I was looking for. I trust this brand and I feel it is doing good things for me.
